Wind Power

In Room7 we are learning about Wind Power.
We know that wind turbines are used to convert wind energy into power.  This is a great idea as wind is both free and renewable.  The wind farms in NZ supply 240,000 homes with power.
We have been looking at a website called 'Wind with Miller'.  In the photos you can see us working with a partner and checking out the website as Miller explains how wind turbines work.  Its really interesting and interactive so if you'd like to have a look click on the link below...

Dynamos in Training

On Tuesday the 3rd of March 18 Year 6 Te Puna children (from Rooms 5, 7 and 10) began their Dynamo 2015 experience.  These children undertook intensive training with Sport BOP trainer Meg.  They also had to identify important qualities that leaders possess such as honesty, support, encouragement and patience to name a few.

Meg put these kids through their paces and taught them several new games such as popcorn, samurai soldiers, gotcha, and asteroids .

Our new Dynamo Leaders will run lunch time games for our younger students every week.
